Exercises in Art Therapy

Art is an amazing tool for therapeutic practices, and it can be used to help people feel better. Art is a form of expression, and art does not exist without emotion; this being said it is natural that art is used as therapy. We all have emotions that we need to get out sometimes, and I recommend using art as the tool to do so. This article will discuss an art therapy exercise that I often enjoy.

Watercolor paint is a great way to express your emotions because it is so vivid and alive itself. Watercolors blend and blur in ways that are very representative of emotions. For this project you will need watercolor paints, paint brushes, a cup of water, paper towels, and a calm place where you can relax. I also suggest that you have a cd player or a way of listening to music to help you get in the mood.

Put on some music and get comfortable. It is important to have music that helps you touch the emotions you are feeling. Do not try to hide or push away your emotions; embrace your emotions. Sometimes you need to feel emotions that you do not necessarily want to feel, and putting these emotions into art is a productive and positive way to use your negative emotions.

Now start by wetting your paper; wet the entire piece of paper because this will help the colors blend. Add water to the paints to get them ready to use, and pick a color that feels right. Now start by making a brushstroke on the paper, and watch how the colors move. Make some more brush strokes and shapes, and use other colors as well. Keep adding colors and different lines and patterns until the entire paper is colored. While you are adding these colors think about your emotions, and think about why you are upset. Put these feelings onto the paper through the use of the colors.

Now while the paper is still wet you are going to take away these vivid and intense colors. While doing this I want you to imagine letting go of these feelings. I want you to visualize washing these feelings away. Now use the paper towel to blot different areas of your picture. This will remove most of the colors. You can even add more water to the area of the paper that you want to remove more color from. Keep removing the colors until you feel relaxed and pleased with this piece.

The visualization techniques in this exercise are important to help you release your pent up emotions. This article will help you use art to feel better.

Preventing counterproductive behavior can start with employee appraisals; these evaluations can help a manager determine what areas an employee should work on to promote productivity and prevent counterproductive behavior. It is also important to inquire about the abilities and habits of employees prior to hiring them; this will help determine their ability to be productive ahead of time. These strategies can be used to prevent counterproductive behavior while promoting productive behavior.

How to Protect Your Plants from Frost

As the winter months are approaching many of us are starting to get ready to make our final harvests, and with the weather now always being very forgiving to our gardens it is important to know how to frost proof your garden before the cold comes. You do not want to lose the plants you have spent so much time growing for the past few months to one night of cold, and I have provided simple instructions on how to prevent frost from ruining your spring and fall crops.

Colder weather is harmful to your plants because it can cause freezing. Water droplets on the leaves and buds of plants can freeze from a drop in temperature, and the moisture freezing results in your plants becoming mushy or black. In order to frost proof your plants you must cover them to keep the moisture from freezing.

Many people recommend using plastic or vinyl sheets to cover your plants, and this can be very effective, but there is a problem with this practice. Plastic will keep the temperature up, and it will guard against the cold air, but it does not breathe. Plastic keeps moisture inside, and if the temperature does accidentally get cold enough to freeze this moisture your plants will get hurt. If you do not have any other option plastic will work, and putting a garbage can over taller plants is also a valuable idea.

Newspaper can be used to protect plants from frost, but it can only be used for sprouts or low growing plants. Newspaper may be harder to work with, but it will work in a pinch for smaller plants. It does not keep moisture in and this is good for your plants.

A bed sheet, burlap, linen, or another light fabric makes a perfect covering for plants. This material will allow moisture to escape, and this will improve the chance that you plants will survive the cold. Bed sheets are also great because they can be recycled, and they cover a large space. Any light piece of large fabric will work well for protecting your plants from frost.

Remember, when covering your plants, to wait for sundown to cover them, and always remove the covering early in the morning so the sun can warm up the soil. These methods are also great wen you are starting your garden early in the season, and if you are like me you always start your plants early to extend the season.

The Equity Theory in Business

The equity theory is a part of business and personal life that is rarely discussed considering its impact in our everyday lives. The equity theory discusses how people view and value their social exchanges in life. This plays a large role in our everyday decisions in work and play. This article will discuss the details of the equity theory in business; it will also elaborate on judging the view of equity and inequity and means of dealing with inequity in business scenarios.

The equity theory is very interesting, and it discusses how a person views their social exchanges. Social exchanges are viewed by people as a give and take. They are also considered in relation to other's exchanges and preconceived social exchange standards. Social exchanges consist of a balance between two parts.

The equity theory suggests that equity is a social relationship that has two parts. These parts are known as input and outcome. Input is what an employee brings to the table such as background knowledge and experience, skills, abilities, and effort. Outcome is what the employee gains from their input; this can be measured in means of compensation, praise, and unity amongst employees. Outcomes are relevant to the individual, and they can vary based on the individual's values. Input and outcome work together to provide a person with a feeling of equity or inequity.

The equity theory discusses how employees compare their input to outcome ratio to the ratios of others or other standards. This is how fairness is determined. Equity exists in this social exchange when an employee feels his input is proper relation to the outcome. Inequity is caused by an imbalance in the input to outcome ratio. Equity and inequity is determined by comparing other's social exchanges and standard ideals of social exchange ratios.

If a person determines inequity exists then they can do several things to restore balance and make the exchange of input and outcome fair. They can choose to increase output by asking for a raise or other form of compensation from their boss. They can also choose to decrease input so that the ratio of input to outcome becomes more equal. They can also choose to alter their perception of their input or outcome which would change the state of equity. Finding a new position that supports their belief of equity is an option for restoring equity.

Equity and inequity exist in all business environments. This theory discusses the way employees relate to the exchanges they make. Equity is important to maintain employee satisfaction, and it should be considered by employees and managers of businesses.

The Roles of Research and Statistics in Organizational Psychology

Research and statistics play a huge role in organizational psychology research. There are an abundance of research tools and means of accumulating and determining statistics in organizational psychology. This article will discuss the roles of research and statistics in organizational psychology.

Research and statistics play a large role in the studies of organizational psychology. There are many methods of research and statistics used to determine information and answers to the many questions posed by organizational psychologists. When collecting data, researchers must be aware of several issues that can affect the validity of their research. Generalizing information across differing organizations can commonly lead to mistakes (Britt & Jex, 2008). Research methods vary and should be used to suit the questions at hand.

Many research methods exist in organizational psychology. Archival data, a method of organizational psychology research, represents "any form of data or other records that are compiled for purposes that are independent of the research being conducted;" the common use of this form of research stems from its abundance (Britt & Jex, 2008, Ch. 2). Survey methods are popular means of research in organizational psychology along with observational studies. These common means of research help researchers determine information about employees in a business setting.

Statistics reflect important parts of organizational research; they also help researchers determine variables to base their data analysis and means of measuring information gathered. Descriptive statistics use the mean of information to determine central tendencies and dispersion; to calculate the mean all answers are added up and divided by the total number of answer to gather an average (Britt & Jex, 2008). Meta-analysis has become recently popular in organizational psychology, and it "involves the quantitative summary of research findings and is typically used in research domains where a considerable number of studies have been conducted" (Britt & Jex, 2008, Ch. 2). Statistics play an important role in organizational psychology research, but these methods have issues that must be considered. Statistical power reflects the strength of statistical information based on several factors such as sampling size and effect size (Britt & Jex, 2008). Research and statistics play a key role in organizational psychology, and they must be used correctly to present valid results and information.

Research and statistics are a key component in organizational psychology, and they are used to determine and analyze data. These tools are used to greatly increase the effectiveness and success of an organization.

Finish this garden stake craft by cutting another piece of wire and add four beads to it. Then lay the four beads along the top end of the garden stake to look like a body, and use the extra wire on the ends to secure the beads in place by wrapping the wire around the stake and the beads.

This easy wire garden stake craft is a fun way to help the plants in your garden while being crafty!

Sun

Another way to use wire to add a plant stake to your garden is by making a sun shaped plant stake. For this easy garden craft you will need wire, a garden stake, wire cutters, and pliers. You may also want to use something round to make a perfect circle. Start this craft by cutting a long piece of wire using the wire cutters.

Form a circle about 4 inches in diameter around and twist the excess wire to secure the circle in place. Then cut a very long piece of wire and use the pliers to curl the end into a U shape. Place the curve around the circle of wire and use the pliers to bend it shut tight. Wrap the wire around the circle one more time to secure it in place.

Then bend the wire about an inch away from the circle to make a point and wrap the wire back around the circle twice to secure it in place; this will make a sun ray. Continue around the circle until your sun is complete, and use the excess wire to attach it to the garden stake.

This easy garden craft is fun to make, and it will add a unique detail to your garden.

Organizational Psychology Concepts in Business

Organizational psychology is an important part of an organization's productivity. This often overlooked area can have a direct impact on the success of any business. This essay will address organizational concepts which relate to employee motivation to increase productivity, how human behavior, cognition, and affect enhance relationships in the workplace, and how to reduce workplace stressors for employees.

The Job Characteristics Theory can be used to increase productivity amongst employees through motivation. This theory is perfect for the situation presented in the simulation because it deals with the tasks an employee is required to complete (Britt & Jex, 2008, Ch. 8). The performers in this company were highly unsatisfied because of the tasks they were required to complete. Using this theory, the variety and importance of tasks could be analyzed and changed to effectively increase productivity (Britt & Jex, 2008, Ch. 8). This theory should be used because it will provide employees with the ability to gain from their tasks, and this is what they have been lacking in their jobs.

Knowledge of human behavior, cognition, and affect can be used to enhance relationships in the workplace in several ways. Understanding how human behavior, cognition, and affect can enhance relationships in the workplace is important because it can help explain how people react to each other and react in situations. This also helps people understand how to deal with each other and outside situations. Understanding human behavior, cognition, and affect is important because it helps enhance relationships in the workplace because conflicts can be avoided through preparedness and knowledge of the employees. Skills can be paired together in positive ways and teams can be put together in a means that is more effective.

Organizations can reduce workplace stressors for employees in several ways. It is important to accurately determine what the stressors in the workplace are. Means of fixing these stressors are the next step. Helping employees find methods of dealing with stress in the workplace is also very important. Fixing the problem is the most important part, but providing the employees with means of dealing with stress is also important for avoiding problems in the future.

Organizational psychology is an important aspect of any business. This form of psychology is effective in fixing many problems in business as well as increasing productivity. Organizational psychology can solve problems, promote stress free work environments, and assemble strong and productive teams. Organizational psychology is a necessary tool in business, and its theories should be used according to the type of business, employees, and problems at hand. Organizational psychology can be used to improve and business.

Crafty Collage Projects that Recycle Things Found Around Your Home

It is fun to create crafts using the collage method, and it is even more impressive and fun when you use items found around your home for these craft projects. I love to used collage and mixed media because you can create something amazing from many different pieces of things that would not have been very extraordinary in the first place. Here are some fun collage projects that will help you use some of your trash to make awesome art work.

One project that is a lot of fun and can help you use up your junk mail and magazines is recycled paper. First you will need a piece of screen or tulle fabric stretched over a frame. Next you will need to shred up some old junk mail or newspapers and soak them in water. After the paper turns to mush pour it over the screen, and let the paper dry. The best part of this project is that you can use the paper you created to make several other cool projects.

Another fun collage project that you can create using things found around your home is a table collage. This project requires a table, but you can use a small corner table or a large coffee table; any size table will work well for this project. You will also need a bunch of pictures and words cut out of magazines and newspapers. I enjoy using old mail and tags from products and clothing as well. Now simply cut out the pieces you want and place them in a fun pattern on your table.

When you are happy with the pattern glue your pictures down. Remember you do not have to be afraid to overlap or mix pictures together in different orders to create separate images all together. For instance place all the pictures of similar colors in straight lines across the table and the patterned will appear striped. When you are done with this part of the project you must let it dry for 24 hours. After it has dried you must spray the piece with a clear sealer. Remember to spray it several times, and let it dry thoroughly in between applications. This table will be a special piece of furniture that you can treasure forever.

Collages are a lot of fun, and you can utilize the junk lying around your home to create a 3-d collage sculpture. First start out with an idea of what you want to make or the space you want to put it. If you can not decide on a subject for your collage start by putting together a couple pieces of junk that you find interesting. I like to use things that have fun colors or shapes. For example you can turn a plastic spoon into a flower by gluing several bottle caps to the round part of the spoon. You could then make several more flowers and put them into an old tin can. There are several different things that can be made using junk around your house. Landscapes can be created using a piece of cardboard and different size containers. Twigs can be used as trees, and pine cones make delightful pine trees as well. Let your imagination run wild when creating these collage sculptures.

There are so many fun collage projects that can be made using items found around your home. Instead of throwing away your trash, try to create something unique, personal, and beautiful. Remember one man's trash is another man's treasure, and there is always inspiration everywhere. I hope these fun projects help you reuse some of your garbage and have fun at the same time!

The Moon: Understanding the Tarot

As we come to the end of the tarot cards we can see how the major arcana unfolds. It has led us on a journey through birth, death, inspiration and waiting. There are many lessons to be learned from the tarot, and it is important to understand the complete meaning behind the card in order to fully grasp the lessons the tarot deck has to offer.

The moon card is pictured with a large moon in the center the addition of a crescent moon inside the full moon is also present. A dog and a wolf howl are positioned at the bottom of the card, and they look up in a howl. This card is symbolic of fear, illusion, fantasy, deception and confusion.

The moon card symbolizes being afraid; it represents nameless fears and phobias, and it suggests being afraid of the dark and what may lie in it. This card also implies that there is a lack of strength and courage, and the bearer of this card may be allowing insignificant worries to overcome him. This card suggests that you release inner secrets and fears like the heartfelt howl of the wolf.

Illusions are another implication of the moon. Deception is apparent when the moon card appears in your reading. You may be deceiving yourself, and you may believe in things that are unrealistic. You may have your fantasies confused with reality, and you may be mistaking truth for fiction. The illusions that you see in the shadow of the moon show there true selves in the sunlight.

Imagination is conjured up by the moon card, and it implies that dreams may currently be very realistic and vivid. You may be fantasizing a lot about someone or something. Peculiar ideas may be running through your mind as of light, and this may be bringing you inspiration and creativity. These unusual and outlandish thoughts are derivative of the unconscious, and may be seen as visions.

The moon card also suggest confusion, and you may feel as if someone has turned the lights off on you. You may feel that you are losing yourself, and you may have trouble seeing things clearly. It is as if you are in a fog, and you are unsure of which way you have come from and which way you are going. This can be distracting, and leave you with a trouble mind, but remember night only lasts so long.

The moon is a card of darkness of thought, this can be deceptive, confusing or frightening, but it can also be used as creative inspiration.

3 Fun Ways to Make Polymer Clay Beads More Interesting

Polymer Clay is a fun medium to use, and there are many different things you can make with this type of clay. It is easy to mold, and it can be cooked right in your oven. When I am making jewelry, and I have run out of beads that I want to use, I take out my clay, and I make myself beads. Here are some techniques that will make your bead making more intricate and unique.

One of my favorite types of polymer clay beads you can make is imitation bone or ivory. This technique can also been manipulated so that the beads will look wooden as well. Start out making beads with white clay. I like to make long cylindrical beads when creating these beads because it gives you more room to carve patterns into the bead. After you have cooked the bead carve into it with a knife to make pretty patterns. I also use a sharp needle. Using a tan or beige acrylic paint lightly rub the outside of the bead with the paint. The carved spots will remain white, and when the paint is slightly dry dab it with a napkin to remove some of the paint. These beads are easy and can be personalized.

Metallic beads are also fun bead projects that can be made. All you will need is metallic pigment paints for this project. Roll out beads into shapes that you like, and add textures or patterns into the surface of these beads if you like. Before you cook the beads brush them with metallic pigment powders. If there is a pattern pressed into the bead you can rubbed the pigment powder over the bead in order to leave the pattern the original color. Next bake your beads and the powder will stick.

Another interesting technique when making polymer clay beads is to mix things with the clay to create various looks. Threads from fabric can be added to clay to make a beautiful effect; this effect is especially beautiful when the clay is translucent. Dried herbs can also be added to these beads in order to create a fun effect. Dried parsley, oregano, and thyme can be added to create an earthy gemstone look to your beads. Sand can also be included in your beads to add texture and depth. These basic ingredients can add a whole new dimension to your bead making.

All of these techniques are fun, unique, and add a new twist to bead making. I hope you find inspiration in these ideas, and I hope you will make many new projects with these ideas.

A Natural Treatment for Cedar Apple Rust

There is a natural treatment for cedar apple rust that actually works. Cedar apple rust can be a terrible problem to apple trees. Young trees can suffer from this common ailment, and some apple trees can actually die. Luckily, there is a natural treatment for cedar apple rust, and your plants will survive this problem if you use this natural treatment. This article will discuss cedar apple rust and a natural treatment for this common problem.

My dad got me two apple trees this spring, and they were growing great until recently. They started getting little golden orange-yellow spots. The leaves started curling and withering, and they looked horrible. After some research I found out it was cedar apple rust. I have no idea where there are cedar trees near my house, but there definitely are somewhere because my apple tree was dieing. Since there is no way I can remove the cedar trees in the area around my house, I had to find a natural treatment for cedar apple rust.

After much research and trial and error I have determined a natural treatment for cedar apple rust. You will need 1 tablespoon of baking soda, 2 tablespoons dish washing liquid, 1 clove of garlic, 1 tablespoon of oil, and a quart of water.

Start making this natural treatment for cedar apple rust by boiling the water. Chop the garlic into several pieces and add the garlic to the boiling water. Remember to use all parts of the garlic including the skin. Bring the water to a boil again and reduce to a simmer. Simmer the mixture for about 30 minutes. Allow the mixture to cool.

While the garlic and water is cooling you can mix the rest of the ingredients together. Strain the garlic from the water using cheesecloth or a coffee filter. Then mix the water and soap mixture together. Fill a spray bottle with the liquid.

Start treating your apple tree by removing the leaves that appear infected with the cedar apple rust. The infected leaves are doomed and will die. It is better to remove them before they can infect the other leaves. Remember not to touch any healthy leaves once you have touched the leaves with cedar apple rust on them.

Then spray the leaves with the liquid mixture thoroughly. Remember to spray the bottoms and the tops of the leaves. Also spray the bark and the dirt around the base of the apple tree. This natural treatment should be applied every week to maintain good health.

This natural treatment for cedar apple rust is beneficial to your apple tree in more ways than one. This natural treatment will rid your apple tree of cedar apple rust and other common pests. Many garden insect problems can be solved using this solution so feel free to try it in many spots in your garden. As with any natural treatment test a spot first by spraying it and waiting 24 hours to see the impact it has on the plants.
