A Natural Treatment for Cedar Apple Rust

There is a natural treatment for cedar apple rust that actually works. Cedar apple rust can be a terrible problem to apple trees. Young trees can suffer from this common ailment, and some apple trees can actually die. Luckily, there is a natural treatment for cedar apple rust, and your plants will survive this problem if you use this natural treatment. This article will discuss cedar apple rust and a natural treatment for this common problem.

My dad got me two apple trees this spring, and they were growing great until recently. They started getting little golden orange-yellow spots. The leaves started curling and withering, and they looked horrible. After some research I found out it was cedar apple rust. I have no idea where there are cedar trees near my house, but there definitely are somewhere because my apple tree was dieing. Since there is no way I can remove the cedar trees in the area around my house, I had to find a natural treatment for cedar apple rust.

After much research and trial and error I have determined a natural treatment for cedar apple rust. You will need 1 tablespoon of baking soda, 2 tablespoons dish washing liquid, 1 clove of garlic, 1 tablespoon of oil, and a quart of water.

Start making this natural treatment for cedar apple rust by boiling the water. Chop the garlic into several pieces and add the garlic to the boiling water. Remember to use all parts of the garlic including the skin. Bring the water to a boil again and reduce to a simmer. Simmer the mixture for about 30 minutes. Allow the mixture to cool.

While the garlic and water is cooling you can mix the rest of the ingredients together. Strain the garlic from the water using cheesecloth or a coffee filter. Then mix the water and soap mixture together. Fill a spray bottle with the liquid.

Start treating your apple tree by removing the leaves that appear infected with the cedar apple rust. The infected leaves are doomed and will die. It is better to remove them before they can infect the other leaves. Remember not to touch any healthy leaves once you have touched the leaves with cedar apple rust on them.

Then spray the leaves with the liquid mixture thoroughly. Remember to spray the bottoms and the tops of the leaves. Also spray the bark and the dirt around the base of the apple tree. This natural treatment should be applied every week to maintain good health.

This natural treatment for cedar apple rust is beneficial to your apple tree in more ways than one. This natural treatment will rid your apple tree of cedar apple rust and other common pests. Many garden insect problems can be solved using this solution so feel free to try it in many spots in your garden. As with any natural treatment test a spot first by spraying it and waiting 24 hours to see the impact it has on the plants.
