The Advantages and Disadvantages of a Manager Delegating Work

Some managers will delegate most of their work to their subordinates; some managers will delegate very little work, and both of these types of managers should take into consideration the advantages and disadvantages of delegating their work to employees. Delegating responsibility, accountability, and authority has advantages and disadvantages, and some managers choose not to delegate work at all, but proper delegation can be the key to business success.

An advantage of delegation is efficient use of time and talent. Delegation will help a manager use her time and the time of her employees effectively, and it will allow a manager to get even more work done then they will alone. Delegation is a way of empowering employees as well, and this is a promising advantage. Giving responsibility and accountability to employees will give them an opportunity to showcase their skills and talents; it will also provide them with the opportunity to have pride in their work.
Delegating is popular and useful, but it has its disadvantages as well. If delegation is not followed up with review the work delegated may not be done correctly or up to par. Another disadvantage of delegation is employees may focus more on their work than the company as a whole. Another disadvantage of delegation is their may not be a clear structure of authority, and employees may not be sure who to go to as their superior.
Some managers may choose not to delegate for fear of being accountable for work that has been delegated; they may also feel it is wrong to ask others to do their work, but delegating is important for getting things done efficiently. Some managers may not delegate work to their employees for fear of job security and ego, but this is not beneficial for a business or company.
Managers should delegate a certain amount of work to their employees to improve their chances of being efficient and productive. Managers should also consider improving employee moral when delegating work. If some work is delegated to employees it gives them a chance to use their ideas and skills to succeed, and this has a powerful impact on employee moral, but delegating too much work can have a negative impact where employees feel taken advantage of and run down.Delegating work has a fine line, but if it is done correctly it can achieve important results. Managers should consider delegating work to employees, but they should also provide employees with information, encouragement, and praise when delegating work. Managers must also remember to watch the amount of work they delegate in order to be effective and efficient.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Control Systems in Business Management

There are many advantages and disadvantages of control systems in business management. These control systems should be thoroughly examined and applied in order to be a successful manager and have a business run smoothly. The types of control systems are bureaucratic control, market control, and clan control.
Bureaucratic control uses "formal rules, standards, hierarchy, and legitimate authority", and this type of control system works well with specific tasks that are done by independent workers (Bateman & Snell, 2009, p.34). Many businesses utilize this form of a control system in management.
Market control uses "prices, competition, profit centers, and exchange relationships" to establish control, and it works well where "tangible output can be identified and market can be established between parties" (Bateman & Snell, 2009). This type of control system is unpopular because the constant fluctuation of the market causes complications with the security of this control system.
Clan control involves shared culture, beliefs, standards, and trust. This control system works best where no one is strictly the decision maker and employees are encouraged to provide input, make choices, and act independently. This is a new control system that is starting to become popular with the increased need for innovation.
Some advantages of bureaucratic control systems are lack of confusion about decision making and lack of confusion in expectation and standards required from employees. This type of control system has clear management rules and responsibilities are cut and dry. Disadvantages of this system are lack of employee morale and lack of room for change and innovation. Independent workers and strict guidelines can make employees feel undervalued, and this is a disadvantage for business and management.
An advantage of market control systems is a flexible system, but this is also a disadvantage because value is always changing and employees may suffer from companies being repeatedly bought and sold. Flexibility can be positive one day and detrimental another, and human capital is at risk with this type of control system.
A clan control system is advantageous because it provides a company with more possibilities of innovation and ideas, but it lacks a direct form of control or strict authority which can lead to confusion of responsibility. Lack of standard management can cause problems in business when using this control system because employees may slack, take advantage, or shrug responsibility with out guidelines. This control system is advantageous to business and management because it can also encourage employees to take initiative and increase knowledge and skills.
Control systems are valuable to management in business, and understanding the three basic control systems is important when implementing a control system in a business. The disadvantages and advantages of each control system must also be considered when choosing a system for business management.

Mulberry Cobbler Recipe

I live in New York, and I have recently noticed that I have two mulberry trees growing in my back yard. One of these trees hangs right over part of my vegetable garden. All the mulberries kept falling on my garden, and this made it really hard to keep up with the weeds. I decided that I would have to figure out something to do with these mulberries, so I decided to start cooking with them. I tried a lot of recipes, but this mulberry cobbler is by far the best!
Okay so first the ingredients! You will need about 2 cups of mulberries, now remember to cut the stems off because the stems are not delicious. The next ingredient is sugar, and you will need about a fourth to a half a cup of sugar depending on how sweet you like things. You will also need six tablespoons of butter, three-fourths of a cup of flour, two teaspoons of baking powder, half a teaspoon of salt, and three-fourths a cup of milk.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees . Next you will need to mix the berries with the sugar, and you can add some apple slices if you like. Sometimes I slice and chop one or two apples and throw them in for variety. After the fruit and sugar is thoroughly mixed melt the butter and pour it into an eight inch square glass dish.

Now mix all of the dry ingredients, and add the milk; remember to keep the berries separate! You can add some granola and/or oats to add some texture. You can also add some lemon zest to the batter in order to spice it up a bit. If you do not want to add these ingredients it will still be delicious, but you can always keep them in mind for latter.

A very important step in this recipe is to pour the batter into the dish. You do not want to mix the batter when it is in the dish because the butter is there first for a reason. Now that the batter is already in the pan you can add your mulberries. Sprinkle them all over the top of the batter.

This may seem like an upside down cobbler, but it is truly scrumptious, and is very easy to make. Bake this dish for about twenty minutes. You will know it is done when a knife comes out clean of batter when it is inserted in the middle of the cobbler.

My Favorite Pickled Jalapeno Recipe

This year I started a new garden. I cleaned out all the stumps, rocks, and weeds and planted in new fresh soil. If any of you has started a new garden in a forested area you know how the first season isn't all the best. Many of my plants grew and some of them died, but my jalapenos flourished. My jalapenos grew into big bushes and I can pick about 20- 30 peppers every week or less. I have been putting jalapenos in everything; I have even been giving them away. I realized that I can not eat all of these peppers, and I do not want them to go to waste. I have found some very delicious and effective methods of preserving jalapeno peppers. The simplest and easiest recipe for preserving jalapenos is pickled jalapenos. The best part of pickled jalapenos is that you can pickle them with many different vegetable combinations.
My favorite pickled jalapeno recipe is pickled jalapenos and carrots. To make pickled jalapenos and carrots start by boiling enough vinegar to cover your vegetables and fill you jar. I like to use old pickle jars because the rims are wide enough to pour into, and you can stick your hand inside to get the delicious treats out.
When the vinegar starts to boil, add the carrots and boil them for 10 minutes. I use baby carrots because they are already in small pieces but you can cut up regular carrots if you like. The carrots will become soft. Make sure to check how many carrots and jalapeno you can fit in your jar before boiling any of the vegetables.
The next step is to slice the peppers in half and remove the seeds. For a much hotter pepper leave seeds in pepper and poke a hole in each pepper instead of slicing it. A few seeds mixed in with the vinegar will add a little spice so season according to your spice preference.
After the carrots have become soft add the jalapenos and spices to the vinegar and simmer. I like to use sage, thyme, and cilantro to flavor my pickled mixture, and I also add about 10 whole garlic cloves because I love pickled garlic. Simmer all of the ingredients for 5- 10 minutes. The longer you simmer the mix the softer your jalapenos will be.
Remove the pickled vegetables and season lightly with salt. After the mixture has cooled slightly fill your jar and let sit out for one hour. This will allow time for the mixture to cool; after one hour you can refrigerate the finishes pickled peppers. These vegetables are delicious on their own or in many other recipes.

Globalization and Its Affect on Management and Leadership

The increased role of globalization has affected management and leadership in several ways. Globalization has affected management and leadership through market and customer base, international employee transfer rates, competition, and an increase in opportunities.
Before the recent increase in globalization companies usually considered their customer base and market to be their country of origin. Due to globalization management can now consider the entire world their market and available customer base. Globalization has caused management to expand to cross the globe, and this allows production to increase.
Globalization has also impacted management because it has led to many employees transfers to international locations. This causes the need for more management and forms of communication. This also requires management to consider the needs of employees in other countries, and to offer compensation for relocation.
Globalization also increases competition because certain areas won't have such a strong hold on areas of production and service. This opens the world up to a lot of opportunities, and it increases the abilities of businesses to compete worldwide. Before globalization services and products did not have such a wide range of customers, and this causes a decrease in their value, but a larger customer base will increase the profitability of a business. Globalization has made business must more profitable and complex.
Good leadership in one country will not automatically be good leadership in another country for several reasons. A good leader may be deemed so by certain characteristics that are favored in a particular country, and these characteristics or habits may not be appreciated or held so highly in another country. Countries have their own cultures and social standards, and this is important when considering leadership. A leader that has knowledge of a countries ethics, beliefs, and customs and basic leadership skills can provide beneficial leadership to a business in another country.
There are several skills that a leader can have that will make them successful globally, and these skills are strong business knowledge, awareness and sensitivity to cultural differences and standards, courage, commitment, and integrity. Any good leader can not be a good leader in any country, but a leader with good work ethics, personal and professional integrity, and determination can be a good leader. If the leader is trained in cultural standards of a country and respects these standards they can be effective and will be respected by the country they are trying to provide leadership to.
Globalization affects management in several ways. Management must consider a much larger market, more competition, and international employees because of globalization. Leadership is also affected by globalization, and customs and standards of a country must be taken into consideration when trying to provide powerful leadership to another country.

Six Steps in the Planning Process

"Planning is the conscious, systematic process of making decisions about goals and activities that an individual, group, work unit, or organization will pursue in the future," and understanding the six steps of the planning process will turn your decision making abilities into plans that will help you achieve your goals (Bateman & Snell, 2009, p.20). The six steps in the planning process are situational analysis, alternative goals and plans, goal and plan evaluation, goal and plan selection, implementation, and monitor and control, and here you will learn about each step in detail.
Situational analysis is the first step of the planning process, and during this step all information relevant to the situation should be gathered and analyzed in depth. This step explores internal and external factors, influences, and environments, and it studies and determines events and patterns of the past, present, and future(Bateman & Snell, 2009). The first step of the planning process provides you with all the information you need to begin creating a successful plan.
Alternative goals and plans should be considered when formulating a plan, and this is the second step of the planning process. During this step, goals must be specified in order to create a plan. There are five basic ideas that should be considered when choosing a goal; specifics, measurability, attainability, relevance, and time frame should all be part of the goal choosing process when creating a plan (Bateman & Snell, 2009).
The third step of the planning process is evaluation, and during this part of the planning process managers will consider the affects of alternative goals and plans. Managers will weigh out the advantages and disadvantages, and they will focus strongly on cost effectiveness and "expected return" (Bateman & Snell, 2009, p.23).
Goal and plan selection is the fourth step in the planning process, and it entails identifying "the priorities and trade-offs among the goals and plans" in order to select a plan that is the most "appropriate and feasible" (Bateman & Snell, 2009, p.24). During this step managers must use the information gathered in the previous step to determine what goal and plan they must choose.
Implementation is the fifth step in the planning process, and "managers and employees must understand the plan, have the resources to implement it, and be motivated to do so" (Bateman & Snell, 2009, p.25). This step is integral because an excellent plan is not going to work if it is not properly implemented. A plan that has been influenced by the input of employees is a great way to provide employees with motivation.
Monitoring and controlling is an important step to the planning process because it allows for review and change where needed. Planning is a continual process that allows for new plans and strategies to be formulated and implemented when situations change.
The six steps of the planning process are all very valuable and important to the success of any goal or plan, and understanding each step can influence if your goals are reached.

Critical Thinking: Benefits, Characteristics, and Decision Making

Critical thinking is a has many benefits and specific characteristics, and it directly impacts decision making. Critical thinking is important when making decisions and training yourself to think critically will increase your success and happiness in life.
Critical thinking is the process in which information, facts, and theories are gathered and analyzed. Critical thinking is the process that is used to make effective decisions. Critical thinking also evaluates options and separates facts from opinions. Critical thinking is a valuable process that should be applied by everyone.
Some characteristics that critical thinkers demonstrate are humility, empathy, courage, integrity, and fair-mindedness. These characteristics help a critical thinker make positive decisions that they will be happy about in the future.
Critical thinkers are humble enough to know their limitations. Critical thinkers are also empathetic enough to understand the impact of their decisions on others and courageous enough to trust their own reasoning skills. Integrity is another characteristics of critical thinkers because integrity demonstrates honesty and realistic perception of outcomes. Fair-mindedness is an important characteristics of critical thinkers as well because it allows a thinker to give ideas and options their due validity.
There are many benefits of critical thinking. Critical thinking will allow one to make a positive decision that will achieve the goals they desire. Critical thinking will also allow a person to reach their goals without damaging any other area of their lives. a benefit of critical thinking is making clear choices that you can be happy about. Critical thinking also benefits others because critical thinking allows one to determine the impact of their decisions on others.
Critical thinking is beneficial to the decision making because it provides you with all of the background information and options available before making important choices. It also allows you to take many things into consideration in relation to your decision. Critical thinking is an educated and aware way to make a choice and understand options. Critical thinking allows people to make decisions that are the best for them and the world and people around them.
When making a decision a critical thought should be about how the decision will effect you, the world, and the people around you in the short term and long term. Another example of critical thought when decision making is considering all options of the decision. These are thoughts that will occur during critical thinking.
There are many tools and practices that will help with critical thinking and decision making. Evaluating and prioritizing in relation to options and the outcomes of possible choices is another way to critically make a decision. Another thing to consider when critically thinking is bias and opinion. It is important to make sure ideas are not based on bias information. Research is another valuable tool for critical thinking; this will help you determine facts.

The Information Processing Theory and Its Effect on Children and Learning

The mind is truly an amazing thing, and the information that it processes is immense. The intrigue that the mind provides for people causes it to be a subject of much study. In order to be an effective and understanding teacher it is important to understand how information is processed by the mind. As a teacher you must be able to maximize the amount of information the brain processes, and maintain and encourage normal development of abilities and thought processes. The information processing theory is an interesting theory that discusses how a person processes information as a child and how the child's processing develops as the child ages; environment and heredity can influence information processing and the intelligence of a person.
From birth, people are confronted with stimulation and information that their minds must process. The information processing theory is a "group of theoretical frameworks that address how human beings receive, think about, mentally modify, and remember information, and on how such cognitive processes change over the course of development" (McDevitt & Ormrod, 2004, p. 186). There are many key components that are involved in the information processing theory. The three areas of the memory that hold information are called the "sensory register", the "working memory", and the "long-term memory"; information is first received at the sensory register, it is then processed by the working memory, and after some other complex processes it may be transferred to the long-term memory (McDevitt & Ormrod, 2004, p. 186). There are many things that cause information to move through these memory banks. These components are called "attention", "rehearsal, organization, and elaboration" (McDevitt & Ormrod, 2004, p. 186). There are factors that influence how and what information is processed, and the processes develop as a person grows. Without all of these factors a person would not be able to perceive, understand, use, and remember the information they are given everyday. The information processing theory is a theory that explains how people perceive, remember, and store the massive amounts of information they are subjected to everyday.
Information is received through a person's senses, it comes from the environment around you, and it is referred to as the sensory register (McDevitt & Ormrod, 2004). There are two other places where information is stored in the memory, and they are called working memory and long-term memory. Working memory is where information is processed and "problem solving" occurs; the working memory usually only processes things for a short period of time. The working memory will process information for longer periods of time if the person is actively concentrating on the information. Long-term memory is where the information remembered over time is kept; there are many ways that information is moved from working memory into long term memory (McDevitt & Ormrod, 2004, p. 187). Attention is another key idea in information processing because it is what causes information to move from the sensory register to the working memory. There are many processes that cause information to move from the working memory into long-term memory. These processes are called rehearsal, organization, and elaboration (McDevitt & Ormrod, 2004). People have a mechanism that controls the information they process. This mechanism is called the "central executive", and it is "critical for planning, decision making, self-regulation, and inhibition of unproductive thoughts and behaviors" (McDevitt & Ormrod, 2004, p. 188). Another idea in the information process theory is that the development of abilities and cognitive processes occurs steadily and gradually through trends. The mind and the way it processes information is very complex and continues to develop.
As a child grows the way they process information and how the process work develops and changes as the child grows. In infancy babies show signs of learning as soon as they are born; they also show a "preference for moderately complex stimuli" at this age (McDevitt & Ormrod, 2004, p. 201). The ability to classify objects is evident during infancy, and an infant's "attention (is) easily drawn to intense and novel stimuli" (McDevitt & Ormrod, 2004, p. 201). During early childhood the attention span of a child is short, and children are easily distracted. At such a young age children are limited in relation to their knowledge because they have not had much experience with variable stimulation. From the age of 6 to ten years old children are more capable of focusing on important information, and they are not distracted as easily as before. Middle childhood is also characterized by "increasingly symbolic nature of thought and knowledge", "gradual automatization of basic skills", and an "expanding base of knowledge" (McDevitt & Ormrod, 2004, p. 201). Early adolescence is a point for children where their ability to focus on one task for an hour or so is developed. Basic skills such as writing and math are basically automatized, and knowledge base is expanded in relation to school subjects and interests. During late adolescence a child's ability to focus on tasks is extended to lengthy periods of time instead of an hour, and their knowledge has increased to become "extensive and somewhat integrated" in some areas of content (McDevitt & Ormrod, 2004, p. 201).
Environment and heredity are both factors that can influence intelligence and the processing of information. Environment influences perception, and "perception of one's surroundings is essential for survival, the human species has undoubtedly evolved some biologically built in perceptual mechanisms" (McDevitt & Ormrod, 2004, p. 201). Children are born into environments and the information they are first confronted with comes from direct stimulation from the environments they are in. The environment inevitably has an affect on what a child perceives and what information is remembered and thought about. Environments vary and the factors instilled in children in relation to knowledge vary as well. As a child grows older the child's environment expands as does the child's base of knowledge. Heredity is also a factor that affects the development of processing information and intelligence. Heredity can cause children to have mental illnesses that can cause mental developments to not happen at the normal rate. Heredity is also relevant to processing information because it affects children's natural inclination of what information to remember; this is also caused by the environment. A child is born into an environment that is completely determined by the parents and surrounding society. The society's thoughts and actions are presented to the child. I do believe that heredity and environment automatically influence a child's development because of the issues both the environment and heredity present the child with from birth, but I also believe that the child is born with freewill and free thought, and the child can overcome most influences of environment and heredity if the child chooses to; I think this may be affected by the complex executive mechanism that is involved with the information processing ability of he mind. I also acknowledge that the impact of the child's heredity and environment may cause the child to develop in a different way than anticipated because of negative environmental situations.
The information processing theory is a very complex theory that attempts to categorize the way information is recognized, utilized, and stored in the memory. It is an extremely intense topic to approach because it is abstract ideas that are being studied and recorded. This theory recognizes the ability for a person to control what information is processed and the changes and developments of these abilities. The mind works in mysterious ways, and it is important for teacher's to be aware of how a child develops to be to truly reach students. It is also important for teacher's to be able to recognize the development of children in order to teach effectively and maximize the student's information processing ability; it is also relevant because teacher's can plan lessons that are structured in accordance with the developmental needs of the students. If a child is not developing at a normal rate, a teacher will be more aware of this problem, if the teacher is already knowledgeable of the information processing theory. Overall the information processing theory is a valuable tool in order to teach effectively, and understand how the memory actually works.

Becoming an Effective Teacher: Setting and Achieving Goals

Being a teacher is a very demanding job in many aspects, and a teacher's job never ends. When the class ends, and the students go home, the teacher is still working, and most teachers work many more hours a day than can be imagined. A lot of work goes into the classes that seem to end so quickly.
Society and students are constantly changing, so there are constantly new things to learn as a teacher; there are also many programs and organizations that can be joined in order to maintain expertise and be a beneficial teacher. In order to become a teacher I will have to achieve many goals, develop professionally on a person level and through the use of programs, learn to assess my progress and teaching strategies, stay motivated, and develop leadership skills. This will be a very demanding task, but it is completely worthwhile in my pursuit of education.
In the next five years there are many goals that I must complete in order to become a teacher. One of the most complicated goals I must achieve in order to become a certified teacher is choosing which state I want to teach in. This is a very difficult decision to make for me because I am not so sure where I want to live, and I know that every state has different requirements in order to become a certified teacher. I suppose that if I am not sure where I want to buy a house, when I am ready to become certified, that I will become certified in the state of New York. If I am certified in New York, I can apply to become certified for whichever state I choose to live in. Another goal I have in the next five years will be to complete many art classes such as art history, figure drawing, ceramics, and mixed media. I will have to take many art classes in order to fulfill the requirements for being an art teacher, and I would like to take these classes in order to improve my artistic skills as well. There are some problems with this goal because the University of Phoenix does not provide art classes to the students, and I will need these classes to complete my goals. In order to do this I will probably have complete my associate degree through the University of Phoenix, and transfer to a local college. I would prefer to continue to take classes on line so I will try to find a college that also supports online classes, and I will have to alternate between attending a college physically and taking classes on the computer. I would also like to eventually become a mentor or support mentoring programs in my school districts. I feel that as a mentor I would be able to help many new teachers, and this would increase the overall levels of education for the teachers and students. I have many goals that will increase my level of professionalism as a teacher and as a person, and there will be many obstacles to overcome, but in the long run it will be worth it. The next five years will require a lot of hard work, but the end results will be great accomplishments.
In the far future I would like to become a nationally accredited teacher, but this will take a lot of work as well. I would like to become a member of the "The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards" because there are many benefits that can come from it. As a member of this board I will meet "most states' definition of "highly qualified teacher" and my abilities to teach will be strengthened (National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, 2007). This accreditation will provide me with more opportunities in more areas, and it will make it easier for me to transfer to different states without having to become certified all over again. In many states being a member of this organization will also apply towards the certification process which is also helpful. Becoming a member does take time and effort. Applicants are required to have a "bachelor degree", "Have completed three full years of teaching/counseling experience", and "possess a valid state teaching/counseling license for that period of time, or, if teaching where a license is not required, have taught in schools recognized and approved to operate by the state" (National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, 2007). There is an assessment process that you must complete in order to become a member of this organization, and there are fees and funding provided to become a member of the NBPTS. There is a total of 3065 dollars worth of fees, but the board offers payment plans and there are federal, state, and school district funding options(National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, 2007).. This organization is expensive, but it will be a good investment if I want to relocate often. There are many important principles that need to be fulfilled in order to become and continue to be an effective teacher. I think the hardest principle for me would be to understand how students differ in their approaches to learning and creates instructional opportunities that are adapted to diverse learners.

I feel this would be the harder for me because I am not accustomed to dealing with students with disabilities. It is important to be aware of the needs of your students and I would like to be fully capable of teaching students in the way that will be most effective to them. I am also not fluent in other languages, and this would be beneficial with bilingual students and English language learners. There are many programs that I can take in order to become more knowledgeable in the area of diversity in education. The "Heritage Institute" is an institute that provides many programs for teachers; these programs cover many important topics related to English language learners, and special education students (The Heritage Institute, n.d.). I think these programs will be extremely beneficial to me, and it is convenient that they can be taken over the internet. They are not extremely expensive, and the institute is accredited by the "the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools". This school also offers art classes so I am very interested in what opportunities it has to offer me (The Heritage Institute, n.d.). There are many diverse needs that I will have to accommodate as a teacher, and this institute offers so many classes that can be helpful with this challenge. This institute offers programs such as "HOW TO DIFFERENTIATE INSTRUCTION in MIXED ABILITY CLASSROOMS", "ENGAGING LEARNERS Through POPULAR MEDIA", and "CULTURALLY SENSITIVE CLASSROOMS" (The Heritage Institute, n.d.). This institute can provide me with a wide range of course that can help me become a better, more effective teacher overall.
As a teacher there will be a need to constantly evaluate myself. In order to be an effective teacher and to constructively evaluate my actions and how they affect the students, parents, and school faculty around me, I will keep a journal. A lot can go on during the day in a classroom; there is an incredible amount of interaction is schools, and it will be hard to remember everything. I will write down my thoughts on the day, and how they classes went during my lunch break if I can, and after the students are dismissed. This journal will help me organize my thoughts and feelings and it will help me keep track of everything that has occurred. It will also be an excellent record for the future, and I will be able to look back on it at all times. It will be a beneficial tool in my learning and the learning of the students because it will give me the information required to better evaluate and construct lesson plans. It will also give me a more accurate account of events that have occurred and I will later be able to analyze and decide on the best methods of handling conflicts as they occur. This journal will also be extremely helpful as an organizational tool. I can incorporate my lesson plans, the student's reactions, and my reactions as well into the journal, and this will be a huge benefit when I am creating new lesson plans and for the year ahead. I will also be able to make notes on the learning styles of the students which will increase the student's ability to learn because I will be able to accommodate them better in the future. I think creating a journal will also benefit me mentally because I will know what points have gone over and I will be able to pick up where I left off. Emotionally this will also be a productive tool for me as a teacher because it will help relieve some of the stress from the day. By writing down what happened I will be able to release some of the thoughts in my head and look at them in a new perspective. At the very least this will be an excellent tool for substitutes when I get sick because they will have a lot of important information on the class. Creating a journal is a simple idea that does not take a lot of time, but will be extremely helpful in the long run.
As a teacher I am required to lead the class, and there are certain factors that can influence a teacher's leadership abilities. I believe that as a teacher it is extremely important to promote respect, and show respect in all of what you do. If you provide students with respect they will respect you in return. Integrity is another important factor of leadership; it is important to be consistent in order to be respected and instill positive values and productive reinforcement for students. If a teacher has integrity this will increase the teacher's credibility to the students as well as develop a better relationship amongst the teacher and the students and faculty. I will also be sure to be knowledgeable of the subject matter I am teaching because with out knowledge of the subject I can not lead. Knowledge of the students and there abilities and talents is also important. It is also important to be knowledgeable of the community and current events in order to reach students in the most beneficial way. If I am fully aware of the classroom, students, subject, and the world around me I will be respected and capable of leading. In order to be an extremely good leader I will also have to be aware of the needs of my students. I will have to consistently listen to them and I will have to take their concerns into consideration at all times. The student's success is my goal as a teacher so I will have to be an excellent leader in many ways.
Teaching is constantly challenging and requires a person to develop many personal, social, mental, emotional, and professional skills, but it is extremely rewarding in many ways. There are many factors that can influence a teacher's impact on the student's success. As a teacher I will have to consistently continue to learn, and I will consistently have to continue to adapt to me students needs. I will have to maintain leadership while allowing students to learn responsibility and I will have to guide them not only by teaching, but continuing to learn myself. There are many steps I will have to take in order to become an excellent teacher, and I feel that to continue to teach well I will have to continue to learn everyday, and this will be a lot of hard work, but it will be extremely rewarding. Being a teacher is rewarding because I will be instilling knowledge in the world around me, and I will be continuing to grow, develop, and learn as a person. I can not imagine anything better than this, and I think if more people were constantly striving to learn themselves the world would be a better place. This is why I want to teach, and instilling the idea of life long learning in children is more than enough reason for me to continue to face the challenges associated with teaching.

The Negative Impact of Organized Religion

Organized religion is something that many people cherish; it is something that many people live their lives by. Organized religion is a concept that was meant for good purposes, but it does not always serve good purposes. When mass amounts of people are influenced they can do horrible things and wonderful things in the name of God, but the people that head most organized religions do not always promote what is good and righteous. There are many benefits of organized religion, but there are many negative impacts as well. War and hate crimes are two negative effects that organized religion has had on society.

War is an obvious effect of organized religion, and there are many examples of this. The Catholic Protestant war in Ireland is a perfect example of this. The crusades are another fine example of organized religion creating havoc. The most recent example is the World Trade Center and the Iraq war. It is supposedly because of religion. I believe that there are a lot of religious fanatics in the United States and the world, but I also feel that our government makes it seem like something new when it is not. I think a lot of the problem is our occupation of their country, but it still has ties with religion. Organized religion is meant to unite people, but in many cases it has only accomplished separation, stereotypes, and war among peoples.
Hate crimes are another effect caused by organized religion. When the World Trade Center was attacked many Muslim and Arab people were victims of hate crimes. A lot of people thought it was patriotic, and that anyone who was Muslim was a terrorist. A lot of innocent people were and still are discriminated against and abused because of this. The KKK is also another example of hate crimes due to organized religion. The KKK, a form of organized religion, has strong religious beliefs yet they lynched and abused many African American people. Hate crimes come from ignorance and organized religion can promote ignorance instead of alleviating it.
It is amazing to me that people can take such a beautiful thing, such as religion, and turn it into such an ugly spectacle. It is sad when people use religion as an excuse to hurt each other. It is astounding that hate and war can come from religion when the basic ideas in all religions are love and unity.
